We’re going to talk to some great women. I’ve got Christy Whitman, Juliet Clark, Carolyn Rivera, Dr. Marissa Pei, Esateys, Lillian Walker, Aleah Ava, Dr. Liz Hoefer, Jennifer Ford Berry, Penny Zenker, Phoebe Mroczek and Stefanie LaHart. All of them are women podcasters or show producers because some of them do video as well. I’m so lucky to get to work with an amazing group of women. I put out an email blast to my entire client base and said, “Here we are at Podetize, we support your brands and we support you. I’d love to give you a promotional opportunity, a chance for me to talk about you. How can we do that best for International Women’s Day? Let me do an interview.”
I’m on a little bit of a marathon. I wished I could have gone all day but unfortunately real life happens to us women. I’m a mom and I am now going solo because Tom’s away at Podfest, one of the biggest podcast trade shows. He’s away and he’s also taken Alexandra. Alexandra is my daughter who’s also our COO of our company, Brandcasters and Podetize, which many of you know. They’re away, which means I don’t have a backup. I’m doing the solo mom thing and it’s so infrequent in my life that I have to do solo things like this. We just make it do. I’m running from 9:30 to 5:00 PM and I’m going to run episodes. Other than that, I’m going to run and do as many episodes as I can.
I was so glad when all of our podcasters signed up so quickly because I want women to reach out and promote themselves. It is so hard sometimes to get women to go and push their message out into the world and be promotional about it. The ones of you that are, you are being successful. You’re putting your message out there and you’re putting your service out there. You’re putting a service first mindset out there and I love that about the group of women that I get to work with every single day. I’m happy to highlight you and so proud that you’re all in my life, in my business and in my world. It makes things so much better. It makes my job easy. It makes me passionate about getting to get up and talk to all of you. I couldn’t wait for that.
Look at life not as imbalanced but in harmony. Click To TweetThere’s also this theme going on. International Women’s Day has an organization and it’s a worldwide organization that is putting this out there. They are creating an opportunity for women to be highlighted. They’ve created mini events and we registered to be an event and to run this, to highlight women in podcasting. They’ve asked us for this theme called balance for better. The thing is balance for better is not my theme. I didn’t choose that. I added life in harmony as a hashtag for us. I wanted to explain that quickly. You’re going to hear me say this but I don’t believe in balance. I believe that balance is crap. It’s not possible in this world to have balance. It’s not sustainable. You can do it momentarily and it’s amazing when something is balanced like balancing an egg or balancing on point. Any of those things are absolutely amazing, balancing in a yoga pose. It’s amazing but it’s not sustainable. I want to do things that are absolutely repeatable and sustainable in my life because I want to be able to do it again and again. If I loved it, I want to do it again and again. I don’t look at my life as a being imbalanced, I look at it as being in harmony. That’s something critical to how I put myself out there. How we put all of our podcasts and shows out there.
What we do is we’re looking at this harmonious creation of highlighting someone else, then highlighting what we have to say. Bringing on somebody different, somebody with a different perspective, somebody with a deep sound or somebody with a high sound. We’re trying to mix all of that up so that we can get to this place where everybody can shine, where we can shine as a group, where we can shine as an orchestra. To me, some of my favorite musical groups of all times are The Eagles, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Indigo Girls. These are some of the things that I love to listen to. Why? It’s difficult to do harmony because you have to get cooperation, you have to get things going on. You have to have collaboration going on in that.

International Women’s Day: When we can live in a world of competition, then we can live a harmonious life.
When we can live in a world of coopetition as my friend, Scott Carson, calls it or constant collaboration, when we can live in that, then we can live a harmonious life. I look at my daily life as harmonious. I have my husband who gets the kids off to school and my daughter who runs and do pickup when I’m not available so that I can shine and do more things. Do more videos, skip our lunch for Tom’s birthday so that I can be on the Larry King Show. It’s stuff like this that happens that we allow each other within the process and we don’t require this self-sacrifice. We support each other in our goals and where we’re going because we’re all in this. We’re all creating beautiful music together. That’s what I’m really hoping I can get across to you on International Women’s Day is getting that across to everyone.
That’s where we are. Let’s live a life in harmony. If balance is what you’re looking for and your definition of balance is different than my definition of balance and that’s fine then go for balance for better. Let’s highlight each other and let’s grow each other. It’s important because so often we don’t tend to grow ourselves. We don’t do enough promotions. That’s what I’m bringing. That’s what I wanted to highlight and what I wanted to share with you. Thank you so much. Thank you for sharing all of that with me. We will be re-sharing this and we’ll be reposting this. It will show you all of the great things and all of the things that we try to do to make sure that you may be seen, heard or found in all of the great places across it so that your business can grow. Thank you. Happy International Women’s Day.
